Commit yourself to excellence from the start. No legacy is as
rich as excellence. The quality of your life will be in direct proportion to
your commitment to excellence, regardless of what you choose to do. “It’s a
funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very
often get it,” said Somerset Maugham. It takes less time to do something right
than it does to explain why you did it wrong. “There is an infinite difference
between a little wrong and just right, between fairly good and the best,
between mediocrity and superiority,” said Orison Swett Marcell.
Every day we should ask ourselves, “Why should my boss hire me instead of someone else?” or “Why should people do business with me instead of my competitors?” “Watch your actions: they become habits; they become character. Watch your characters; it becomes your destiny,”
“Sin has many tools, but a lie is the – handle that fits
them all,” said Oliver Wendell Holmes. Those who are given to white lies soon
become color blind. A lie has no legs to support itself-it requires other lies.
When you stretch the truth, watch out for the snap back. Each time you lie,
even a little white lie, you push yourself toward failure. However, each time
you are honest, you propel yourself toward greater success.
Outside forces don’t control your character. You do. The
measure of a person’s real character is what he would do if he knew he would
never be found out. Be more concerned with your character than with your
reputation because your character is what you really are while your reputation
is merely what others think you are. There is no right way to do the wrong
thing.
“He that is good will infallibility become better, and he
that is bad will as certainly become worse; for vice, virtue and time are three
things that never stand still,” said Charles Caleb Colton. Recently I saw a
plague that said, “Excellence can be attained if you… Care more than others
think is wise, Risk more than others think is safe, Dream more than others
think is practical, and Expect more than others think is possible.”
Excellence-it’s contagious…be a leader... Start an epidemic!
COMMIT YOURSELF TO EXCELLING AT EXCELLENCE!
